She is committed to supporting them achieve their goals, just as she was during her studies. She believes a good mentor can really shape the university journey and help students become the best they can be. She loves gardening and the outdoors, if she isn’t at work, you will most likely find her in her garden or on a hike in the beautiful Adelaide Hills.

The first in his family to go to university, Dr Mark Kohler arrived in Adelaide from rural Tasmania with $2000 in his pocket and a dream to study psychology. His unbridled curiosity and interest in discovering the ‘whys’ of life had prompted his father to suggest a career as a psychologist. Hindsight shows it was a sage suggestion and today, Mark is Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology—proving that, sometimes, parents really do know best. Now with five children of his own, Mark intertwines teaching and inspiring the next generation of psychology students with research endeavours focused on child wellbeing and learning.

What do commerce, Canada and cars have in common? Tom Nelson! After completing a commerce degree right here at the University of Adelaide, taking a gap year in Canada and working at BMW (with a myriad of jobs in between), Tom landed in the faculty marketing team as Product Specialist. Tom has been the product specialist over the last 2 years and assists with marketing and recruitment activities across the faculty. When not at work, you will find him riding his bike, enjoying drinks on Rundle Street or gardening.

A qualified dentist and recipient of the International Student of the Year Award in 2023, Taseef is currently undertaking a PhD blending artificial intelligence and the dynamics of the human jaw. He is also an emerging entrepreneur and founder of the Dental Loop, an initiative that aims to apply classic and cutting-edge AI techniques to enhance diagnostic support and patient engagement. On weekends, Taseef enjoys getting outside and discovering Adelaide’s many picturesque hikes—like the Mt Osmond lookout, with 360 degree views across Adelaide.
