Xander Spotbeen Spends 3 Weeks in Prostate Cancer Research Group Lab for Lipid Imaging Project

Xander Spotbeen supervised by Prof Johan Swinnen

Xander Spotbeen from KU Leuven in Belgium returned to our laboratory for a 3 week visit during November and December.

In 2016, Xander spent 5 months in our lab as part of his Masters research and his work was instrumental in setting up our Lipid Imaging project, which is part of our Lipids and Prostate Cancer program. Now doing a PhD, Xander is furthering his studies on lipid imaging in prostate cancer and came to image some new samples in our mass spectrometry facility at SAHMRI, in collaboration with Drs Marten Snel and Paul Trim. Xander is supervised by Prof Johan Swinnen at KU Leuven, who is a long-time collaborator of the Prostate Cancer Research Group and one of the main investigators on our Movember-funded Lipids and Prostate Cancer program.

Short-term exchanges like these are a great way to progress our research, share knowledge and provide valuable training for the next generation of research talent.
