Philanthropy
The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is engaged in various philanthropic activities, through the Florey Medical Research Foundation and its association with related groups.
The faculty is home to the Florey Medical Research Foundation, which raises funds for postgraduate research scholarships and early-career postdoctoral research fellowships within the medical degree.
There are two groups associated with the Florey Medical Research Foundation: the Peter Couche Foundation and the Northern Communities Health Foundation. Each group is supported by Florey through fundraising activities.
Florey Medical Research Foundation
The faculty is home to the Florey Medical Research Foundation, which raises funds for postgraduate research scholarships and early-career postdoctoral research fellowships within the medical degree.
Northern Communities Health Foundation
The Northern Communities Health Foundation (NCHF) supports the Florey foundation by providing essential funding for: various prizes; the NCHF Visiting Professor Program; top-up scholarships; and the Early Career Researcher Award.
Peter Couche Foundation
Every 10 minutes, someone in Australia suffers a stroke, making it the leading cause of disability in Australia. Over 250,000 Australians are currently living with the aftermath of a stroke. The Peter Couche Foundation raises funds to support research into novel stroke therapies and prevention.
