Adelaide Health Technology Assessment (AHTA) undertakes comprehensive evidence-based assessments of health technology and interventions to inform policy and practice. We work closely with the federal health department, and those in each state, assessing the suitability of health interventions, technologies and services for public funding by the health system.

Donating your body to science is one of the greatest gifts one can give to make a lasting contribution to the education and training of our current and future health professionals and to advance science through research. The Adelaide Medical School operates a central mortuary facility on behalf of the universities in South Australia for the acceptance of all bodies donated to science.
The Clinical Research Facility is a modern, controlled and secure multi-use research space on level 4 of the Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences building, in the heart of the BioMed City precinct. The purpose-built facility offers a self-contained, flexible and safe environment to conduct commercial clinical trials and deliver high quality care for study participants.
Adelaide Medical School offers histology services at competitive rates for both internal and external clients. Services include tissue preparation, embedding, sectioning, slide mounting, routine and special staining. Electron microscopy preparation services are also available upon request. We provide quotes for projects, when grant applications are being prepared.
The Ray Last Laboratories consist of three multifunctional laboratory spaces which encompass bioskills, surgical skills and anatomy areas. The state-of-the-art laboratories are located within the Adelaide Medical School. They service a wide range of uses, from undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in anatomy to advanced surgical training, simulation, clinical skills and research.
Do you need access to equipment to conduct scientific research? We provide researchers with access to world-class equipment, technology and facilities. The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences has a range of bookable, in-house research equipment, located across the various precincts of the faculty and SA Health units. We want to support researchers, enabling you to undertake research you might not otherwise be able to do without access to equipment.
The Yaitya Purruna Indigenous Health Unit provides a wide range of support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and staff in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. We value Aboriginal community engagement as a core part of our business, and seek to support projects that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people in empowering and sustainable ways.
The Vernon-Roberts Museum contains the most extensive collection of examples of human diseases and detailed anatomical prosections in South Australia. Our inventory has in excess of 2000 potted specimens–of which approximately 400 are on display and the remainder available upon request–and includes a large comparative skeletal collection as well as models of hominids and developmental embryology.
