Port Pirie Regional Health Service

A Typical Semester

A semester in Port Pirie may be as follows: Obstetrics and Gynaecology rotation for 8/9 weeks, 12/13 weeks with Central Clinic and Terrace Clinic General Practice Clinics, which will include visiting specialists, anaesthetists and study sessions. Tutorials that are scheduled by the University are usually 1-2 times a week plus students have tutorials with a local General Practitioner.

AM Anaes GP Clinic GP Clinic Visiting Specialist GP Clinic A & E rotations. May be on call.
PM Anaes VC, Tutes (Paeds, Geriatrics, SMTS etc.) GP Clinic On call A&E 5pm-10.30pm (students self roster these sessions) Tute with local GP Study A & E rotations. May be on call.

Pt Pirie Visiting Specialists

In Port Pirie we have various specialists that visit on a regular basis. This may be weekly, monthly, bimonthly or biannually. Specialists include: Orthopaedic surgeon, ENT surgeon, Cardiologist, Urologist, Plastic surgeon, Ophthalmologist, Nephrologist, Child Psychiatrist, Oncologist, Respiratory Physician, Vascular Surgeon, Geriatrician, Neurologist, Dermatologist and Rheumatologist.

Students may also be rostered with the Environmental Health Centre, Aboriginal Health team for GP visits or school visits, or with various other allied health professionals.
