Dr James Smyth, a senior consultant in emergency medicine is undertaking research with the centre.

Dr James Smyth is an senior consultant in emergency medicine who is undertaking a PhD with the CRE Frailty & Healthy Ageing. He is researching the potential roles of frailty assessment for nursing home residents transferred to the emergency department in the context of the growing aged population, associated emergencies in residential care facilities and multi-disciplinary care.

His PhD supervisor is Professor Renuka Visvanathan.
