Lifespan Development

Our researchers in the Lifespan Development Centre are working to understand fundamental questions about human development across the lifespan—from infancy to adulthood to end of life. Our work in the Develop Well group focuses on the foundations of psychological development helping children and the community support children into adulthood.

Child reading

Researchers in Lifespan Development work to understand fundamental questions about how psychological processes emerge across the lifespan. We are interested in the changes that occur from the pre-natal period through to adolescence and older adulthood, including changes in social and emotional functioning, language, and thought. Our research considers children, parents, families, environments, and broader social and cultural factors that affect development. Within Lifespan Development, the Develop Well Laboratory specialises in research with children and families.

Our researchers work in partnership with practitioners, educators, families, and caregiving support systems to provide evidence-based research aimed at improving development and wellbeing across the lifespan.
