ARCPOH and the School of Dentistry are pleased to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Marco Peres to the position of Professor of Population Oral Health. Associate Professor Peres will commence at ARCPOH on 1 December 2012. Currently a member of staff with the Department of Public Health, Health Science Centre, at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil, Associate Professor Peres has a wealth of experience in research and research education in the area of oral epidemiology and public health. He has an impressive track record in attracting significant research grants and has published nearly 90 papers in peer reviewed journals, 2 books and 100 scientific oral and poster presentations at international and local conferences. He has supervised Masters and PhD students and has acted as a consultant to several committees with the Brazilian Ministry of Health and Education. He is also a member of the Advisory Board for Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology.

He will be joined by Associate Professor Karen Peres who is also currently attached to the Department of Public Health, Health Science Centre, at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil. Associate Professor Karen Peres also has a strong track record in attracting grant funding, supervision of postgraduate students and published papers.
