Disciplines

At the School of Allied Health and Practice you’ll have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in your chosen discipline, each of which empower individuals by enhancing their ability to move freely, communicate clearly, and engage more fully in life.

As a student of one of the allied health disciplines at Adelaide— occupational therapy, physiotherapy or speech pathology—you’ll gain next-level holistic health understanding through collaborative interprofessional learning.

You’ll study alongside students from all allied health disciplines, and mix with peers from our broad range of health degrees.

You’ll perfect your clinical skills in premium facilities that accurately reflect the sorts of real-world environments in which you’ll work.

  • A state of the art simulation hospital
  • A fully equipped rehabilitation gym
  • Specialised speech pathology facilities including a voice and sound room
  • Specialised occupational therapy facilities including a training kitchen, sensory room and simulated apartment.

Learning from registered, practising professionals, you’ll also spend more than 750 hours honing your skills in a wide variety of real health care settings, equipping you for careers in a broad range of areas.

In addition to teaching, we work to improve the evidence base for what allied health professionals do in Australia every day—deliver high-quality, up-to-date care to all Australians. We aim to:

  • provide excellent undergraduate education for students
  • undertake, support, and publish research aimed at improving health outcomes for patients
  • foster and develop a team of highly-skilled professionals who value excellence
  • foster the provision of excellent care to the community
  • promote inclusiveness and diversity in the delivery of health care and education
  • develop collaborations and partnerships within the University of Adelaide, the broader community, interstate and overseas academic and health organisations.
