Congratulations Peter Smitham for receiving Excellence in Teaching Award for 2020 at Executive Dean Awards

The Executive Dean's Awards was held On Thursday 4 February 2021 by the University of Adelaide. Congratulations to Clinical Associate Professor Peter Smitham from the Royal Adelaide Hospital who received the award for Titleholder/Affiliate award for Teaching excellence in 2020 at Adelaide Medical School.

 

Peter Smitham has a particular interest in hip and knee arthroplasty, revision surgery and orthopaedic trauma. Peter has several ongoing research projects with a current grant from the AOA exploring automating image analysis of hip replacement stability along with being a co-supervisor for three post graduate students.

 

Peter has been recognised for his innovative teaching ideas particularly during the COVID challenges, along with encouraging students to get involved in research in a more practical setting such as theatre sessions and Orthopaedic clinic at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

 

In 2021, Peter Smitham will be continuing in role as the teaching coordinator at the Royal Adelaide campus focusing on research and coordinating the MSK transition to the MD program.
