14th Annual Florey Postgraduate Research Conference

Discover the extraordinary variety of research undertaken by the faculty's Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates at the annual Florey Postgraduate Research Conference.

This year's event will be a virtual poster and presentation experience, involving researchers and academics from across the University, as well as our valued donors, industry partners and major stakeholders.

Information for HDR students

As a HDR student, your participation in the Florey Postgraduate Research Conference provides a valuable opportunity to showcase your research, build your academic profile, network with colleagues and identify potential collaborative opportunities, win prizes and gain Career and Research Skills Training (CaRST) accreditation.

Additionally, a professional development component will involve Zoom sessions with guest speakers on a range of topics to assist you in your postgraduate journeya great opportunity to network with peers, researchers and academics. To register for the professional development sessions, please refer to the conference schedule, below. 

Conference registration

Applications are open to all HDR students currently enrolled with the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. The poster competition is not open to honours and masters-by-coursework students, however these students are welcome to attend the event.

  1. Submit abstract via the online abstract submission form by Monday 27 July (extended deadline)
  2. Submit recorded presentation via box folder by Friday 21 August. Refer to the presentation requirements for submission instructions, and the faculty's filming guide for assistance.
  3. Register to attend the professional development sessions (refer to the conference schedule, below).

  • 1-3 September: Assessments via Zoom (links to be provided)
  • Wednesday 30 September: Virtual Florey Postgraduate Research Conference

Note: Discuss any IP sensitivities with your supervisor prior to submitting an abstract and presentation. The consent form must be signed by your supervisor and submitted with your abstract online to ensure your project information can be uploaded to YouTube and any other public forums such as the University website.

CaRST points

  • HDR students presenting a poster at the conference will be eligible to receive three CaRST accredited points.
  • HDR students must attend a minimum of three professional development topics of discussion on 30 September to be eligible to receive three CaRST accredited points. All sessions must be attended for the full duration or points will be void.
