2012 Faculty Postgraduate Research Conference: The Future of Research in Australia
The 2012 Faculty Postgraduate Research Conference will be held on Friday, 31 August 2012 at the National Wine Centre.
Guest Speaker
The theme of the Conference will be "The Future of Research in Australia". We are delighted that Australia's Chief Scientist, Professor Ian Chubb has agreed to be the keynote speaker and guest of honour.
As Australia’s Chief Scientist, Professor Chubb is uniquely placed to give valuable insights on the future of research in Australia, and we look forward to hearing his ideas and thoughts on current developments and future directions.
Poster Presentations
As in previous years, the morning session of the Conference will be poster presentations from research postgraduate students, who will have the opportunity to win a range of prizes. The first call for abstracts will take place in May. The closing date for poster abstracts is Friday, 13 July 2012.
Faculty 3MT Final
In addition, this year the Faculty Final of the 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition will be held during the afternoon session of the Conference. The top speakers from the earlier Faculty heats will be invited to compete at the Conference for a place in the University final on 11 September.

Over $41 Million in NMHRC Grants and Fellowships for Faculty Researchers
The impressive research strength of the Faculty of Health Sciences received national attention recently with the announcement of NHMRC grants and fellowships for 2012.
Of the nearly $60 million received by South Australian Institutions, over $41 million went to researchers and affiliates from the Faculty, including just under $30 million to Chief Investigators of 38 Project Grants.
Two Centres of Research Excellence focusing on nutrition and dental health services were awarded $2.5 million and $2.46 million respectively. Other successes include four Career Development Fellowships, four Early Career Fellowships, four Research Fellowships and one Practitioner Fellowship
