Activities:
Phil Ryan is a public health physician and a medical statistician. His academic interests revolve around the design and analysis of intervention studies and observational epidemiological studies. He is the Director of the Data Management & Analysis Centre, one of Australia's leading centres for integrated support for quantitative health research. Phil is the Associate Dean for Information Technology in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Current projects include:
- The Second Australian National Blood Pressure Study (High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia/Merck/NHMRC)
- The Australian Orthopaedics Association's National Joint Replacement Registry (AOA and Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing)
- The Point of Care Trial of pathology services in general practice (Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing)
- The DINO and DOMINO trials of omega 3 oil supplements to mothers and babies (Child Health Research Institute/NHMRC)
- Veterans' MATES Project (University of South Australia and Department of Veterans Affairs)
- The development and evaluation of management strategies designed to address poly-morbidity in older people (University of South Australia/NHMRC)
- Spirometry and asthma management in children and adults in general practice. (Department of General Prcatice/NHMRC)
Teaching:
Phil is the Program Coordinator for the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia at the University of Adelaide, and teaches biostatistics at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
