Coordinator of Master of Public Health core course and Bachelor of Health Sciences elective course in Public Health Theory and Practice.

Disciplinary orientation:
Health economics and health services (delivery) research, with an emphasis on their public health applications

Areas of Interest:

  • Efficiency and equity in health services
  • Public health within the Australian health system
  • Transition between hospital and community care

Settings for this research include primary health care, general medical practice, rural and remote localities, and the transition from hospital to community care.


Due to its very nature, most of John's research is conducted as a member of multidisciplinary teams.

Economic evaluation of submissions by pharmaceutical manufacturers for the listing of drugs on the Australian Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. With J Hiller and T Merlin.
