North Western Men's Health Study

A cohort study of health and ageing in men in the North Western suburbs of Adelaide

The North Western Men's Health Study aims to study 1000 men in Adelaide's north-west suburbs to identify factors that contribute to Australian men's reproductive, physical and emotional health. The research team is headed by Associate Professor Gary Wittert from the University of Adelaide's Department of Medicine, associated with Professor Janet Hiller and Dr Megan Warin from the Department of Public Health, and Dr Peter O'Loughlin from the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science. The project also involves links with Professor John Wallace from the University of Adelaide's School of Molecular and Biomedical Science, Professor Villis Marshall of the Royal Adelaide Hospital and University of Adelaide, Dr Anne Taylor from the Population Research and Outcome Studies Unit in the SA Department of Health, Professor Wayne Tilley from the Hanson Institute, and researchers from Glenside Hospital and CSIRO. In addition James Smith from the University of Adelaide's Department of Public Health and Mathew Haren from the University of Adelaide's Department of Medicine are working towards a PhD utilising information gathered from the North Western Men's Health study.
