The SA Men Online Study
The SA Men Online Study is being carried out by Dr Nathanaelle Theriault, Dr Peng Bi and Professor Janet Hiller, Discipline of Public Health, School of Population Health and Clinical Practice, The University of Adelaide. Gay Men's Health of SA has provided active support and input into the study. This study will give information about how and why gay men and other men who have sex with men (MSM) use the internet. This will inform us of potential differences between MSM reached by different approaches in the community and on the internet. It will also contribute to our understanding of MSM social networks in South Australia. In the long term, the results from this study will inform a number of initiatives to improve the health of MSM including planning appropriate interventions to reduce HIV transmission among gay men and other MSM in South Australia. Study progressionThe data collection phase of the study has been completed. Between mid-July and mid-August 2009, more than 200 South Australian men responded to the survey. Results from the study will be made available online in the next few months. Our research team would like to kindly thank all the study respondents as well as all the people involved in promoting the study.
