Prospective undergraduate applicants
All applications for undergraduate programs are processes through the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).
Year 12 applicants
To satisfy minimum entry requirements for admission to undergraduate programs, applicants with year 12 qualifications need to:
- qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), the International Baccalaureate, or a recognised interstate/overseas equivalent;
- obtain ‘recorded achievement’ in at least five SACE Stage 2 subjects in a maximum of three attempts (which need not be made in consecutive years) or, for non-SACE year 12 qualifications, meet all award requirements;
- include among the five SACE Stage 2 subjects at least four Higher Education Selection Subjects (HESS).
Tertiary applicants
An applicant falls within the tertiary category if an academic result has been recorded at a higher education institution. Tertiary results can be used as a basis for selection when an applicant has completed at least one full semester of study.
Special Entry applicants
If you are over 18 and have not done more than two years (full-time) tertiary study in the last two years you can gain university entry by completing the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) . (You must have also turned 18 by February 1st, 2011). The STAT is a two-hour, multiple-choice test designed to assess a range of skills and knowledge needed for successful tertiary study. It is coordinated by the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC) www.satac.edu.au and held several times a year.
TAFE Graduates
Completed Diplomas (formerly called Associate Diploma) or Advanced Diplomas meet the minimum entry requirement for programs in some Faculty of Health Sciences programs.
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants
Wilto Yerlo is responsible for recruiting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to the University's foundation and degree programs, administering the Special Entry Access Scheme and providing support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
Internal Transfer
If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at the University of Adelaide and you wish to transfer into a new program (or start another program concurrently), you may be eligible to apply for an internal transfer rather than needing to apply via SATAC.
