PSYCHOL 6100 Introductory Psychology

This course requires payment of tuition fees (either upfront or through FEE-HELP).

It is an intensive 6-week course that runs from the first week in January until mid February.

The course involves external study through self-directed learning and online lectures and incorporates two 2-hour on-campus tutorials per week.

On completion of the course a 'pass' or better must be achieved to be eligible to enrol in the Graduate Diploma in Psychological Sciences. The Graduate Diploma commences at the start of semester 1.

For applicants who need to do the Introductory Psychology course, applications for the Graduate Diploma in Psychological Sciences need to be submitted to SATAC . Please check the SATAC website for submission deadline information.

 

Graduate Diploma in Psychological Sciences

This course requires payment of tuition fees (either upfront or through FEE-HELP).

Intending applicant handbook

All applicants must have a completed Bachelor's degree. Applicants who have completed a psychology degree or generalist degree with a psychology major are also eligible to apply if their conferred degree is older than 5 years.

SATAC code 3GD048

Applicants who have successfully completed university Level I Psychology within the last 10 years apply through SATAC for the Graduate Diploma in Psychological Sciences.

SATAC code: 3GD060

Applicants without Level I Psychology (within the last 10 years) must complete an intensive summer course (Introductory Psychology) as non-award study. Applicants will need to apply for the Graduate Diploma in Psychological Sciences (with qualifying studies).

Completion of the Graduate Diploma will enable students to apply for the Honours year in Psychology at any Australian University accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).

Master of Psychology (Clinical)

The aim of this program is to provide graduates with the tertiary-level education required to be eligible for registration as a Psychologist and eligibility for membership of the Australian Psychological Society’s (APS) College of Clinical Psychologists.

Applications for the Master of Psychology (Clinical) need to be submitted through the School of Psychology by October 29th, 2012 . Late applications will not be accepted.

It is very important that we receive your Honours or Postgraduate Diploma result by early December because without these result you cannot be considered for an interview for the 2014 intake.

For non University of Adelaide students whose final results are not available until early Novemberr, 2013 please arrange for me to have permission to obtain your provisional result from your Year 4 Coordinator. You can email me their contact details Jessica Venning

Similarly it is essential that the School of Psychology receives both of your Referee Reports by date to be determined, 2013 . If these are not received you cannot be considered for an interview.

Clinical Psychology Scholarship opportunity.

The Scholarship is open to Australian citizens and those with permanent residency status.

When scholarship places are over-subscribed, the selection criteria will be ranked and include but not restricted to the following areas:

  • people living in regional, rural or remote areas;
  • people of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
  • people from Cultural and Linguistic Diverse backgrounds.

Master of Psychology (Health)

The program will provide a professional qualification for those who wish to work as psychologists within the applied health field. In particular, the aim of the program is to produce health psychologists who can apply psychological research and methods to the prevention and management of disease and illness; the promotion and maintenance of health; the identification of psychological factors contributing to illness; and the improvement of the health care system and health policy.

Master of Psychology (Organisational & Human Factors)

The key objective of this program is to provide thorough theoretical and practical skills in core areas to meet formal requirements for entry to the profession (as determined by the Australian Psychological Society and its College of Organisational Psychologists).

The study of Organisational Psychology and Human Factors is concerned with identifying and applying scientific solutions to human problems at work.

Master of Clinical Psychology (Defence)

To be eligible for admittance to the program applicants must be an Australian Defence Force psychologist (including members of the ADF reserves), Commonwealth Department of Defence employed psychologist or a contracted health practitioner (psychologist) in Joint Health Command. Applicants will also be accepted from ADF members who aspire to become psychologists through Defence.

This program has conditional APAC accreditation and has been endorsed by the APS’s College of Clinical Psychologists.

Applications for this program are processed by the School of Psychology. Application forms can be found on the School of Psychology website.

Staff and students within the School of Psychology are engaged in research fields of cognition, perception, neuropsychology, and individual differences. There is also a strong emphasis on applied research engaging with social and organisational issues. Further interests focus on human health and wellbeing through the lifespan and the evaluation of interventions to promote health and wellbeing, and the health policy implications of all.
