Cardiovascular Disease (CVD)
Cardiovascular disease comprises diseases of the heart and blood vessels including coronary heart disease (heart attack and angina), stroke (also called cerebrovascular disease), heart failure and peripheral vascular disease.
Cardiovascular disease is Australia’s largest health problem, accounting for over 50,000 deaths in 2002 and affecting 3.67 million Australians in 2001.
