• Research: I have had a long-standing interest in correlating the pharmacokinetics of drugs and their actions in humans.  My current research, in collaboration with others in this Department, is focused on the clinical pharmacology of substitution treatments for opioid dependent patients and how to improve outcomes.  Studies are in progress to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of methadone and morphine, the effect of opioid tolerance and dependence on pain perception and how it might be best managed, and alternative strategies to improve opioid maintenance.  Other research interests include drug utilisation to improve prescribing.
