Dr Bignold was awarded his MBBS from the University of Western Australia in 1970, and undertook his internship at the Prince Henry Hospital (Sydney) before becoming a post-graduate scholar at the University of New South Wales in 1973. He then joined the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (Sydney) as a Registrar in Histopathology, before obtaining his Doctor of Medicine in 1979 from the University of New South Wales on vascular permeability responses in experimental arthropathies. Following an appointment as Lecturer in Pathology at the University of New South Wales, he was subsequently appointed as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pathology at the University of Adelaide in 1980. Since 1990 he has held a position as Senior Specialist in Pathology at the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science. His research interests include the chemotaxis and motility of neutrophils and other leukocytes. Dr Bignold has been involved in the teaching of Pathology in the Medical course at the University of Adelaide since 1976. |
