Dr Farshid was awarded her MBBS in 1989 before undertaking her internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. In 1990 she joined the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science (IMVS) as a Pathology Trainee. She was subsequently a post-doctoral fellow at Stanford University Medical Centre in the United States from 1992-1994 before working as a Fellow in Surgical Pathology at the same centre in 1994-1995, becoming a Junior Faculty Member (consultant pathologist) in 1995. In 1996 she worked as Fellow in Soft Tissue Pathology at the University of Michigan. Her current appointments are as Senior Consultant Pathologist in the Department of Tissue Pathology at the IMVS and as Senior Visiting Medical Officer for Breast Screen SA. Dr Farshid is involved in the teaching of medical, dental, science and health science students. Her current research interests include predictors of non-sentinal node involvement in breast cancer. |
