Postgraduate Program

The Discipline of Paediatrics currently has around 50 postgraduate students, mostly enrolled in PhD by research. Students are working in a wide variety of departments and affiliated institutions within the Women's and Children's Hospital campus of the Children, Youth and Women's Health Service.

The Discipline has a wide range of opportunities for postgraduate study by research. The research programs include diabetes and endocrinology (Professor Jenny Couper), respiratory/sleep medicine (Associate Professor Declan Kennedy), child and adolescent mental health (Professor Michael Sawyer), lay participation in medical education (Associate Professor Maree O'Keefe), molecular immunology (Associate Professor Simon Barry) and paediatric gastroenterology (Dr Richard Couper). In addition there are a number of programs in other departments at the Women's and Children's Hospital including molecular genetics (Associate Professor Jozef Gecz), lysosomal and perioxisomal metabolic disorders (in the group of Professor John Hopwood), immunology (Professor Tony Ferrante); and in the Child Health Research Institute.

We would be pleased to receive enquiries from prospective postgraduate students, with a view to discussion with the Discipline and its affiliated research groups for further studies. Please contact the Postgraduate Coordinator.
