Research in the Discipline of PaediatricsThe University of Adelaide, Discipline of Paediatrics has a wide range of basic science and clinical Research Programs undertaken by its own staff, and has a significant number of undergraduate and postgraduate research activities. The Discipline has continued its links with other research groups in the Women's and Children's Hospital (Children, Youth and Women's Health Service and SA Pathology) and with the Women's and Children's Health Research Institute. Research programs with clinical relevance have major implications for the continuing improvement of clinical care and it is important that the facilities, funding and incentives for high quality research remain part of the teaching hospital environment. The Vaccine Data Linkage Study (VALiD Study) is administered within the Discipline, which is a project studying a new method of checking for rare reactions to vaccinations in children. Seminar Programs are held twice a month on Thursdays at 12.30pm (Health Research Seminars) and Thursdays at 1pm (Statistics Primer Seminars). The latter is held during the first half of the year only, and encompasses the the Structured Program for postgraduate students, and the School of Paediatrics & Reproductive Health Honours course tutorials, for students enrolled in the Discipline of Paediatrics. |
