Ongoing research within the Discipline included fixed bearing vs. mobile bearing knee trial and Spectron vs. Exeter total hip replacement study. A new study just started recently is the CTA vs. bi-polar shoulder replacement study in patients with rotator cuff tear arthropathy.

The Discipline is involved in undergraduate teaching the later years of the MBBS Course. Mr Ted Mah is Director of Orthopaedics.
