Early childhood development programThe Program starts in early March of second year with a lecture by the staff of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Discipline at the Women's & Children's Hospital. This is an important meeting as you are given lots of helpful hints. All second year medical students are assigned to a hospital (Women's & Children's Hospital, Lyell McEwin Health Service, Modbury Hospital or The Queen Elizabeth Hospital) and rostered to an antenatal clinic. Each students will find their own pregnant lady and family who is willing to allow you to follow them through the pregnancy. The student is expected to visit the pregnant mum, attend clinics with her, be present at the birth and the 6 week check up before the report is due at the end of October. The report is marked as pass or fail and no structure is given as we want your feelings and views of the pregnancy as well as some of the science.
