Postgraduate
In addition to Honours, the Discipline offers many opportunities for postgraduate students wishing to undertake a Masters of Medical Science, Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Philosophy. A M.Med.Sc. may be completed in two years; usually a Ph.D. or M.D. take 3-4 years to complete. Students are expected to enrol in the M.Med.Sc. and may later transfer to a Ph.D.
Application to upgrade candidature from Masters to PhD
The Discipline welcomes students of high academic ability who should have a degree in an appropriate field. Some scholarships are available for students of high academic ability and achievement, but all applicants are urged to apply to governmental and non-governmental bodies for scholarships for living expenses. Non-Australian residents are reminded that tuition fees are payable.
