Contact:Dr Judy Magarey ProgramsBachelor of NursingThis program is designed for students who wish to become registered nurses, prepared for practice in a wide variety of clinical areas. It is academically and clinically demanding. Throughout the program, students will be in clinical placements working alongside registered nurses for an eight-hour hospital shift. The academic year is extended over semester breaks to maximise clinical learning opportunities. Clinical placements will begin early in Level 1 and will extend throughout each level of the program at various metropolitan and rural venues. Clinical experts in nursing and health science supply academic content. Please refer to the International Undergraduate Prospectus available from the International Office. Bachelor of Nursing (Honours)Graduate Certificate in Nursing ScienceApheresis Nursing This program is designed to prepare specialist practitioners, who are experienced in practice.Studies are at the postgraduate level and include planned clinical training. Please refer to the International Postgraduate Coursework Prospectus available from the International Office. Graduate Diploma in Nursing ScienceAcute Care Nursing This program is designed to prepare advanced practitioners in the major specialties.Studies are at the first year Masters degree level and include extensive clinical training and advanced university classroom and laboratory studies.Graduates are eligible to enter Stage 2 of the Master of Nursing Science degree. Clinical Practice is an essential component of most of the above programs. To participate in clinical practice, nurses need to be registered with the Nurses Board of South Australia. Master of Nursing ScienceThis academic program is designed to provide opportunities for nurses to develop advanced skills in clinical inquiry, practice and leadership in professional nursing. Students will graduate with a sound knowledge of a broad range of research methodologies and methods. It is not necessary to be registered with the Nurses Board of South Australia to undertake the Master of Nursing Science.
