David Foley is a clinical lecturer in the department of clinical nursing; he started there when the department was established in 1995. He is responsible for coordinating the Emergency and General Practice nursing programs. He has interests in the management of acute pain in emergency departments, the emergency care of people perceived as difficult and the clinical examination of emergency and primary care clients.

David is currently undertaking a PhD that is concerned with the emergency care provided to individuals with an intellectual disability. He also has an interest in the development of advanced practice and nurse practitioners in South Australia.
