Anne's doctoral research was on the scope of practice of self-employed nurse entrepreneurs and conducted in the Department of Clinical Nursing at the University of Adelaide. She completed undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Monash University, Melbourne. Anne has an extensive background in hospital and community nursing encompassing adults, youth and children. Two highlights of her career were working as a paediatric flying nurse in the Kimberley Ranges of Western Australia and as a community midwife in Scotland. Anne has skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods, Grounded Theory, consensus methods and survey research. Data management skills include SPSS, and NVivo. Her research interests are in health services research, health policy, practice development and interpretative research that aims to understand the ideas, values, understandings, meanings, and the social world of human beings. She has been responsible for developing and writing clinical practice guidelines, conducting evaluations into organisational internal processes and staff needs, and surveying clients' perceptions of care. Teaching interests include qualitative and combined research methods, Endnote and NVivo programs, and supervision of research students. Anne has presented her work at several international, national and state professional symposiums. Publications include a book chapter and several refereed journal articles.
