6th Year SCAP

Dear Students

Welcome to the 6th Yr SCAP webpage.

Specialist, Community or Ambulatory Placements (SCAPs)

Students will undertake the following 6 week placements:

• Medicine or Surgery
• Primary Care
• Psychiatry

Students must take at least one rural-based SCAP (with the exemption of International students who are not required to do a rural placement unless they choose to).

Selection is from a pre-determined list of available SCAPs.

6TH YEAR PRIMARY CARE SCAP
GP SKILLS WORKSHOPS

The GP skills workshop (previously Adelaide to Outback Sessions) is an opportunity for students undertaking their primary care SCAPs to gain a greater understanding of the the assessment and management of common conditions seen in general practice as well as develop hands on skills relevant for general practice.

The workshops are a joint initiative between the Discipline of General Practice at the University of Adelaide and the Adelaide to Outback GP Training Program (AOGP). 

The workshops will be held every Tuesday afternoon in weeks 2-4 of the SCAP rotation from 1.00-5.00 pm in the Training Suite at AOGP.  They are located at the lower level, 183 Melbourne Street, North Adelaide

The workshops will be a combination of seminar, case discussion and clinical skills training and will be facilitated by GP registrars from AOGP with guest presenters.

At the commencement of the SCAP rotation you will have an introductory session in the Discipline of General Practice at the University of Adelaide from 9.00-9.30 am.
