Medical Director Software Training Course
In response to requests from a number of GPs the Discipline of General Practice and Professional Education Department, the University of Adelaide is running a comprehensive medical computing course in the use of Medical Director (from beginner to advanced). This course has been written for general practitioners by a general practitioner and covers script writing, use of clinical tools (including extended primary care), use of the letter writer and clinical notes. The main thrust of the course is the use of history and examination modules. It will feature the use of actual case scenarios as they present to a GP in the surgery. It may also interest academics who are involved in research with General Practitioners who use Medical Director.
The course will also include advanced features like use of clinical guidelines, the internet, search and statistics modules, and the use of other resources within Medical Director.
The course is being run over a period of three weeks in the evenings (6 to 9 p.m. twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays), at the IT Suite of the University of Adelaide Medical School.
Although it is being run as a pilot project for General Practitioners it is envisaged that this IT training may also eventually be incorporated into the curriculum for medical students at the Adelaide University.
