Summer Vacation Scholarships

Several scholarships are available to continuing undergraduate students enrolled in either the Bachelor of Dental Surgery or the Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Adelaide who wish to undertake a six week research project over the 2008-2009 summer vacation.

Eligibilty

These scholarships are available to continuing undergraduate students, primarily those in the later years of either the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) or the Bachelor of Oral Health (BOH) (depending on the scholarship applied for) who wish to undertake a six-week project with the School of Dentistry over the 2008-2009 summer vacation.   Generally, these scholarships will be awarded to students who have completed at least three years of their degree program, however, in some instances (particularly in relation to BOH applications) a student may be accepted after completion of 2 years of study.  Academic merit and the student’s suitability to undertake the proposed research will be taken into consideration when assessing students for eligibility.
Australian citizens, permanent residents, or citizens of other countries and international students who hold current appropriate visas permitting study in Australia are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
The scholarships are intended to provide experience in a research project conducted by one or more academic staff and are not intended to support work towards an Honours degree, or for any other course requirements.  They are however, designed to encourage students to consider the possibility of undertaking further research studies at a higher level.

Application Procedure

Summer Vacation Scholarships are now open for applications.
If you are interested in undertaking a summer project please apply via the Faculty of Health Sciences scholarship scheme at http://health.adelaide.edu.au/research/ugresearch/vacation/
A number of industry scholarships are being finalised but there will only be 1 call for applications in 2009 and all scholarships awarded from the pool of applications. Therefore, you must apply for a Faculty Scholarship to be in the running for an industry scholarship. Once you have applied please email cacdrc@adelaide.edu.au and advise you have submitted your application.
