DENT 6035EX Contemporary Restorative Practice C

DENT 6035EX Contemporary Restorative Practice C is a 4-unit, intensive, external-studies course available in semester 1 2008.  During a 16-week period participants study from home and visit Adelaide for one week.

This course is designed for overseas-trained dentists preparing for study in Australia or for ADC examinations.  It covers the theory and practice of contemporary techniques required in Australian general dental practice.  Topics include intra-oral and panoramic radiography, local anaesthesia, minimally invasive dentistry, current operative techniques, fixed and removable prosthodontics, periodontics and endodontics.

Independent, self-directed study is supported by paper-based and electronic resources from the Bachelor of Dental Surgery program.  Participants also have access to the large dental collection of the University Library.

School of Dentistry staff will keep in touch with and assist participants by phone, letter, university student e-mail and through the use of regular online discussions.

We expect participants to attend the Adelaide Dental School in November for an intensive block of supervised, hands-on technique classes.  Exercises in basic restorative dentistry, radiography, crown and bridge, periodontics and endodontics are planned.  Students will also have a chance to look at instruments and materials available on the Australian market.
