Dr. Chris C. Plato, the American Dermatoglyphics Association's founder
and life-time honorary president, recently passed away at the age of 77.
According to Dr. Plato's and his family's wishes, a Chris C. Plato Fund
has been established with the American Dermatoglyphics Association as
the beneficiary. The fund will support continuing archiving efforts and
dermatoglyphics research that Chris initiated. Donations can be made in
his memory to the:

a notation for the Chris C. Plato Fund.
Dr Plato will be missed by all of us.

Distinguished Service Awardee
- Dr William J Babler, University of Indiana
Dr. William J. Babler, Professor in the Department of Oral Biology
at the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, received
the award at the 2003 ADA business meeting in Tempe, AZ. Through much
of the 1980s he presented at all of the symposiums organized by the ADA
in conjunction with the AAPA or HBA meetings. He has maintained his research
interest in prenatal development of dermatoglyphic traits and their variations.
Recently, he has given talks to various forensic groups on dermatoglyphics
after the recent controversy over the admissibility of dermatoglyphics
as evidence in criminal trials.

the first ADA president and played a major role in the formation of our
association. His award was presented at the ADA Business meeting, Columbus,
Ohio.
